Spunk this puppy up!

As one of my real estate clients said today. She wasn't the customer of the day, though, this guy was.

I sent him a proof of his Property for Sale ad. He's American (not really significant to the story, but it means you can imagine his parts in a laid-back 'Merkan drawl.)

Phone rings.

Me: "Blah blah Paper blah blah Help you!?"*
Him: "Yeah, I got that proof you sent through, I just wanted to make a couple of changes."
Me: "Sure."
Him: "I have a question, though. I was getting a guy to make, you know, a sign to put on the outside of my house, but it was super expensive. So I was thinking maybe I would print your one off real big, and laminate it, and stick it on my house. I can do that, right?"
Me: "Uhhh... no, well, you're not really, um... No. If you were going to do that you probably wouldn't tell me about it."
Him: "What if I thought of it myself, later?"
Me: "That... would probably be OK."
Him: "We never had this conversation."
Pause.
Him: "So once you've made those changes, can you send me another proof? Just to check."

*that is how I always answer the phone, even when I am at home. Sometimes I try to dial 1 for an outside line on the home phone, too.

that's actually kind of awesome. And they say Americans have no sense of humour.

One time i was at the beach and a pay phone rang and I answered it like I was a mobster. Long story short this was three years ago and I am pretty sure this guy is still afraid for his life.

Also my word verification is Efula. So Ef U La.

Hahaha! Awesome. I wonder where he lives and if you'll ever get to see this sign!

"We never had this conversation."

I've always loved that line. Especially when it's delivered seriously.

I've worked from home for YEARS now, and yesterday I found myself dialling 9 for an outside line and then sitting there wondering why the hell the phone wasn't working. It's annoying, because I've only just got out of the habit of answering every phone call with "Good afternoon, Name of Call Centre I Worked in Many Years Ago, Amber speaking!"

I love the "we never had this conversation" line, though! I think I might start using that randomly, just to confuse people...
